Isn’t it awesome earning money without forcing you to ditch your pyjamas? Yes, you can do that in this era! So we’re sharing here a list of side hustles you can do from bed – even in your PJs!
You’re a homebody, an introvert, or you just like your bed too much that you can’t even fathom the idea of leaving it. Then there’s no way you’re going to miss this.
But before we reveal the best side hustles you can do from bed, let us first know what is actually a side hustle.
A side hustle is a piece of work or a mini-job someone does to earn additional income aside from your day job or 9-5 work. It can be freelance work or a single job which you can do in your free time.
While some people love to wait tables in their free time, there are also people who want to work on their smartphones and laptop. So which type are you?
With our advanced technology and lifestyle today, working online is a very common method to earn money or some extra bucks.
Individuals who have children and demanding fur babies at home tend to turn to work online and hustle online.
This type of side hustle becomes more useful and even more popular when the pandemic Covid-19 broke out. Although, personally, I’ve been side-hustling online even before pandemic strikes globally.
Are side hustles for everyone?
CNBC exposed some myths about side hustling and one of those is – everyone needs a side hustle, and I can’t agree more.
You don’t need a side hustle if you have all the luxury in the world but if you’re bored, then please do feed the hungry people or give shelter to the homeless.
Okay – sarcasm aside. You don’t have to hustle online if you love your job, you don’t have extra time, you have enough and you don’t like it all.
How do you start a side hustle?
You can’t start with side hustling if you have no ideas or are not sure what you can do online and what you can offer to people.
If you have skills in mind and you think people will benefit from those, you have to validate those ideas through Google or Pinterest and check if people are looking for those.
One of the easiest ways to start side hustling especially if you don’t have a blog or website is by signing up on freelancing platforms like I also mentioned above.
Best Side Hustles You Can Do From Bed
– Teach online
Teaching online is one of the best side hustles for women and I chose it to be on top of this list. Teaching can be really challenging and it must be extra difficult for people who are just starting to side hustle online.
Yes, I hear you. But we all started with being a beginner. There’s no other way.
I know you can’t be a teacher when you have no idea what to teach.
This is why side hustling may not be for everyone especially when it comes to teaching.
But before I went to Germany and started working as a nurse, I was a German language teacher in a language school in the Philippines, my beloved motherland. I never had any experience teaching prior to that and you know what, I did that for almost a year.
So I believe, it is indeed possible. Before you teach others, teach yourself first that you can do it.
Anyway, now you can be a teacher online, get your students online and do your job online.
Teaching online is more flexible and makes it more possible for teachers who can’t work in a normal classroom setting to help their families and add extra income monthly.
I mean it doesn’t limit to teaching boring math equations and memorizing formulas, or teaching what substances produce a green colour when heat (do you know that thing?), but online you can teach stuff like:
- how to learn and speak a new language
- how to market a business through content and social media marketing
- how to write a newsletter that gets opened
- how to write an ebook that you can sell on Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing
- how to buy old stuff and sell it at a higher price
- how to draw a face
- how to learn graphic design
- how to create a website
And many more…….
Teaching doesn’t have to be live, I mean, you might be seriously in your bed, just in boxers or lingerie. So exposing yourself may not really good idea, but you can still teach and share your knowledge through your own online course.
So how can you create your online course?
Assuming you have already written the script or created a draft for your online course, you can use the following platforms:
- Skillshare (giving you 1-month free access if you use my link)
- Udemy
- Teachable
- Podia
- Kajabi
- Thinkific
However, if you have not yet created your script for your online teaching or course, you can create one through Microsoft Word or Google Docs.
If you are not an English native speaker like me, you can use Grammarly to correct your grammar and sentence construction.
What if you don’t want to create online courses, but you want to teach online (of course, fully clothed)?
Then you should check out the following websites where you can offer your skills and knowledge:
- –VIPKid
- –Cambly
- –Lingoda
- –Preply
- -YouTube (and monetize it using an affiliate program and links or sign up for YouTube Partner Program
- –Fiverr – by creating a teaching gig. A gig is a service you’re offering on Fiverr.
If you want to make your teaching a bit challenging and fun at the same time, you can also offer free printables and downloadable materials related to your topic.
You can create them on Canva (my top recommendation), PicMonkey (I love it too!), InDesign (which I find also an awesome tool) and Affinity Designer, which is quite similar to Photoshop but much easier.
If you’re not sure what to teach, grab this one-page worksheet (no need to sign-up to get it.)
– Bookkeeping
Bookkeeping is a side-hustle that you can also do from home and can be done also online.
However, you shouldn’t mistake bookkeeping for accounting. The latter requires you to have a college degree but with bookkeeping, you can start with it even without experience.
But some companies may ask you to have a college degree but you can always prove your skills especially if you have been certified and collected working experience as a bookkeeper.

So if it appears on Google, people search for these jobs.

Even users search for bookkeeping on Pinterest.
So if you have a knack for accounting and organization, this is definitely one of the best side hustles for you that you can also accomplish from your couch.
A hint for you – every business needs an accountant and bookkeeper.

And those are the proofs that you get paid working online as a bookkeeper. Maybe you think those are just clickbait titles, why not see it for yourself.
I was as curious as you are and did my own research and found an article on the Web. Tried and True Mom Jobs has written an article about becoming a bookkeeper from home featuring somebody who managed to achieve that.
– Survey and Testing
I’ll be honest with you upfront – this one may not be worth your time but signing up on survey websites and offers may not make you an instant millionaire but if you have a dog, you can already spoil him after a month or many months of doing surveys.
Answering surveys online and testing websites don’t require your full attention and you can do them while lying down on your bed.
And these are my recommended websites for surveys:
- Slicethepie – You give your honest opinion about the fashion items like shoes and clothes from different brands, songs of different singers you may never heard before.
- Swagbucks – You participate in surveys and you get paid once you reached the threshold of 5$ via PayPal or any gift cards.
- Mobrog – You will get notifications when surveys are available online. I usually get daily emails from them, by the way.
Sometimes on Facebook groups, you might find people asking for help – for your honest opinion or for a paid project and they will pay if you can spare like 5 minutes of your time to do the survey. I did it before and got 25$ paid through PayPal for a 2-minute call.
One of the famous testing jobs online is website testing and based on my research there are over 200,000 websites created every day.

So imagine some of those websites are created for businesses or for individuals who are willing to pay just to hear honest opinions about their websites.
Excellent, fully functional and user-friendly websites have more advantages, especially on Google and SEO ranking and if you are a business owner you wouldn’t want to miss that chance and have some people test your website and its functions.
That’s why you will find these websites that will pay you to test websites:
Some of these websites written above may require you to record your review, sometimes showing your face or maybe just your voice.
To fulfil those, you need a high-speed internet connection, an updated laptop or computer, maybe a webcam too.
– Blogging
If you don’t know a thing about blogs, then I don’t know from which part of the planet are you.
But really kidding aside, blogging may sound like a diary for some, especially those who don’t have an idea what benefits blogging can give to online nomads like women who strive to thrive in online side hustling.
I have mentioned it a couple of times in my blog posts but blogging is more than writing and gushing over your tiring day.
Let me put it simply to you – you can monetize blogging, in other words, you can earn money through your blog.
First, you should create a blog.
Check if your prospective domain name is still available on Namecheap.
Choose a trusted web hosting company to host your blog on WordPress – I can’t recommend enough Lyrical Host and WordPress. Use CLYDE10 to get a 10% discount when you sign up on Lyrical Host.
I don’t want to focus on this blog post on how to create your blog from scratch, so I have prepared a planner and a worksheet for you before you create a blog.
How can you earn money through blogging? You will also find the answers on my free ebook (with a bonus), but I could give you some insights here as well.
How can you earn money through blogging as a side hustle?
You can be an affiliate of any products you like or use, sell your own digital products, offer ad spaces on your blog and offer a sponsored post. More about these methods are below.
AFFILIATE MARKETING
As a blogger (even with a low-traffic blog), you can earn money through affiliate marketing by applying to affiliate programs that are relevant to your blog.
I started earning affiliate income on Skimlinks last year through the templates I created on Canva.
Though that was still peanut if I take blogging so seriously (quite challenging if one has a full-time job), I know it will be more than a 2-digit income.
Of course, blogging strategy also plays a huge part but that’s another story for another day.
SELLING DIGITAL PRODUCTS
Aside from affiliate marketing, you can sell services and products (like I do!) on my blog. I use SureCart which is new and will be coming out in the next few days.
Before that, I used WooCommerce and Gumroad to sell my digital products which I could recommend to beginners.
Creating a shop on Gumroad is very easy and you don’t need a special skill to add your products. For creating your thumbnail photos, you can use Canva or PicMonkey.
AD SPACES
If you think you don’t have the skills in creating products like templates and printables, you can also rely on ads on your blog.
Your blog may still be small and new, and you can’t probably pass for Adsense and Mediavine, but you can always offer some spaces of your blog to fellow bloggers by featuring their blogs through a logo on your sidebar, but you should set the link to no-follow (if it’s possible) so you won’t get penalized by Google.

SPONSORED POSTS
If you want to promote other brands and their products or services, then you can offer sponsored posts on your blog.
Usually, brands will send their products for free (and you get paid in the end) and you will review them, telling your experience and opinion.
Media Kit is one of the best tools to showcase your blog stats, your past works and collaborations with other brands.

-Freelancing
Freelancing is one of the most lucrative forms of side hustling you can do at home or anywhere you like as long as you can do the work.
In freelancing, you don’t work for any company or you don’t have a boss either but you work with them.
Some may say with freelancing they are more flexible and can work whenever they want which is also true.
But that doesn’t mean once you started working with someone – you decide whenever you want to deliver the project.
In that case, a formal contract or a detailed description of the project are very essential to avoid conflict between you, as a freelancer, and the client.
How will you start freelancing?
If you have a blog and a plethora of skills you can definitely use that to your advantage and for additional income.
Some bloggers (like me), offer services on a freelance basis and you can also do that too depending on your knowledge, skills and free time.
If you just stumbled onto this blog post and you don’t have a blog yet, you can check out these websites to start your side hustling as a freelancer:
–Freelancer (which I don’t really recommend, but still up to you, here’s why)
–Fiverr (my favourite so far)
What type of freelance jobs can you do online?
-Writing
-Graphic designing
-Social Media managing
-Bookkeeping
-Voiceover acting
-Copy editing
-Pinterest Services
Pinterest is not just a social media, it is also a search engine like Google – just think of Google with colourful images and headlines on them.
You can offer Pinterest services as your side hustle if you are a working from home mom, a college student, a social media wizard, and a beginner in this field.
But you should see to it that you know what you’re doing and have at least basic knowledge of Pinterest and how it works.
What Pinterest services can you offer?
-Pinterest account management – It may include Pinterest audit, setup, keyword research and pin scheduling.
-Pinterest pin design -You can offer customizable templates to clients or create for them pins that match their brands.
If you are a total beginner, you can improve your Pinterest knowledge through the following courses and resources:
- Pinteresting Strategies
- Pinterest Ninja + VA Ninja
- Pinterest with Ell Course
- Pinterest Traffic Avalanche
- Pinterest Management Made Easy -This is not a course, but a workbook/planner to help you manage Pinterest accounts as a manager
-Reselling
Instead of piling up old clothes and stuff you don’t need anymore or you think you wouldn’t find any more use to you, why not sell them online?
However, clothes and furniture are not the only things you can resell online. Flipping websites is one of the most profitable side hustle you can do online, especially if you know how to develop a website, write articles that will rank on Google, and how to skyrocket a website’s traffic.
A well-developed website means more profit to you if you could resell it.
By the way, flipping is another term for reselling. One of the famous blog flippers online is Chelsey of Her Paper Route. Check out her blog flipping course if you’re into it.
You can also check out these websites where you can resell items:
- Craigslist
- Ebay
- Preloved
- Facebook Marketplace
- Decluttr
For reference, here’s a screenshot of my search on Pinterest, showing you that people use reselling or flipping as one of the methods to have extra income.

-Vlogging
Due to the pandemic, many individuals who have lost their jobs turned to YouTube and make a profit out of it through YouTube Partner Program.
But before you can apply for the program, you should have at least 4000 watch hours and 1000 subscribers or more.
Even before the pandemic hit and crippled small businesses and some big businesses, there are already individuals who are already making a fortune because of uploading videos on YouTube.
So if you have the expertise to share, instead of writing about it through the blog, you can record yourself, explaining what you know.
Some of us may not want to show faces on camera, you can engage viewers through images, cool or upbeat music and record your voice or have someone do the voice-over.
I might not be an expert when it comes to vlogging, but I am a regular YouTube viewer and I always click on titles that pique my interest, thumbnail images that may tell what you have to show and titles that give solutions to a problem.
These are the types of videos you can make and upload on YouTube:
-Lifestyle and fashion videos
-Technology videos
-How-To Videos
-Quiz Videos
-DIY or craft videos
-Fitness videos
If you have not yet reached the threshold to becoming a YouTube partner, you can review products you love and promote them using your affiliate links.
To upgrade your vlogging, you will need the following gears:
-Laptop or smartphone (for beginners)
-Selling templates and printables online
If you have a knack for graphic designing, you should try creating templates and printables as a side hustle you can do from home.
Even if you don’t have Photoshop skills, you can start on Canva if you’re a total beginner. Canva offers free courses as well and you can even start for free.
Aside from Canva, you can also create templates and printables on PicMonkey, Adobe InDesign and Illustrator and Affinity Designer.
Some printables you can create and sell online are planners, business cards, wedding invitations, wall art, checklists, workbooks, drawing books and many more.
Bloggers and social media managers or virtual assistants need customizable templates if they can’t create their own due to a lack of skills or lack of time.
These are some of the templates you can design on Canva:
-Pinterest pin
-Instagram post
-Twitter post
-Blog banner
-Media kit
-Wallpaper for phone and desktop
Check out more on Canva.
After designing templates and creating printables, you can sell them on Etsy, CreativeMarket, on your blog or website, Gumroad, SendOwl, Facebook Marketplace, and Facebook groups where you are allowed to sell.
If you want to learn how to work on Affinity Designer and create printables using the software, you should check out this one and Easy Printables by Tracie Fobes.
