Are you a current or former college student? Do you still have your old textbooks lying around? Don’t know what to do with them? No worries. There is a lot you can do with old textbooks. You could throw them away, or better yet, you can learn how to make money with outdated textbooks. For more information on how to accomplish this, follow along.
College Bookstore
One of the simplest ways to make money with outdated textbooks is to use your college. At the end of the semester, there should be a buy-back opportunity at the school bookstore. You can usually look online or go in-store to find out how much they will give you for your books. Be sure your book is in good condition when it is returned. I will say the college bookstores payout way less than the book is worth. Consider this route if you are looking to make a few dollars on your purchase and free up space in your home.
Online Buy-Back Programs
If the school bookstore is not offering you enough, you can try other buy-back stores online. Some of the best are Chegg, BookByte, BooksRun, and Cash4Books. Before going to these sites directly, use a textbook buy-back search engine like BookScouter. They will compare the value of your books across all buy-back services to find you the best payout. You can also self sell your textbooks. You can use sites like Amazon or eBay, where you have to create a listing for the book. Be sure to look up the ISBN to determine the best price. Once you set your price and description of the book, it goes live.
Other Ways to Make Money With Outdated Textbooks
There are many other ways to make money using old textbooks. If you are a great artist, you can turn them into beautiful masterpieces. You can also place books up for auction on eBay. A book that is rare, in high demand, and/or in good condition would benefit from this process. If that does not work, you can find other students to sell them to or make a posting on your local Facebook Marketplace.
