Passive income from Kindle Direct Publishing is easy, and it’s free. I am amazed at how many people don’t know that, so let’s fix that now.
Once you create your book, whether it is low content, no content, or a novel getting published is free and easy. So, I am going to show you the seven steps to publish your book.
Passive Income From Kindle Direct Publishing Steps
- Create/write your book. I know this is obvious but it is the first step.
- Go to kdp.amazon.com and sign in with your Amazon account.
- On the left side of the screen click on + Kindle ebook, or Paperback.
- Fill out the details page and then click save and continue.
- Fill out the content page. On this page, you upload your manuscript. A PDF format is recommended, but there are other choices. On this same step, launch the cover creator. Choose your cover image, add your bio and some back cover details on the book, then click save and submit. Click the Assign me a free KDP ISBN at the top of the page. Still, on the content page, click launch previewer. Now choose to save and continue to go to the pricing step.
- Fill out the pricing. Amazon will show you the recommendations. Please choose the one that makes sense to you so it will be competitive.
- Publish your book.
Who knew this could be so easy. I have seen people spend hundreds of dollars to get a book cover design, and here, you have lots of options for free. So no more begging a publisher to consider your book or paying to have copies of the book printed to sell. You have total control. When someone buys your book, Amazon will take care of everything from printing and shipping. Amazon will pay you your royalties from the sales monthly.
Marketing Your Book
- You can choose to do nothing and leave it up to the universe to deliver you sales. This sometimes does work.
- Or you can run an ad campaign. Amazon also makes this easy. Just go to Advertising.Amazon.com and sign in. You can set up a campaign with as little as $1 per day.
- You can post your book on social media.
There are 2.8 million books published every year. So this means the competition is fierce, so make sure your writing is of good quality content.
Content
Amazon has many types of books, ranging anywhere from Art and Photography to Children’s books. You can have fiction or non-fiction, educational, life advice, and it goes on and on. There are also no content books that have become big moneymakers for some. These are coloring books, notebooks, and journals. You can create these using Canva, which is simple and easy to use.
Conclusion
Amazon has removed all the roadblocks to publishing so that all you need is the talent to create and nothing else. My suggestion is you start with a short book. It could be something with 20 pages, or even less, or perhaps a notebook with a decorative cover would enable you to go through the process and see how simple it is. You might even make some money, and there is none better than passive income.
