You’ve come up with the perfect side hustle, and you can’t wait to bring in more income and do something you love. But you can’t find the time or energy to make it happen.
Now what?
I get it. Working full-time is exhausting. If your desire to make more money is strong, you’ll have to figure out how to have a side hustle with a full-time job.
Are you feeling stuck? Check out these tips to get started.
How to Find Time and Energy for Your Side Hustle
1. Get up Earlier (If You’re an Early Riser)
Put more hours in your day by getting up earlier.
Even an hour or two in the morning can make a big difference. Dedicate those hours strictly for your side hustle, and don’t let anything sidetrack you (those dishes can wait!).
You may have some of the best ideas early in the morning.
Not an early riser?
Night owls can stay up an hour or two later. Just don’t get so caught up in your work that you forget to sleep (because sleep is important, too).
2. Let the Creativity Drive You
Choose a side hustle that you LOVE. One that you love so much that it doesn’t feel like work.
You may be surprised to see how much energy you get just doing something you’re passionate about and that brings you joy.
Let it be something you want to do, and that brings you excitement when you deliver it, whether you’re writing blog posts, painting or designing a picture or graphic, or creating a crafted item.
Only you know what brings you joy.
Knowing that you’re helping others is often reason enough to give you a burst of energy.
But remember: don’t choose a side hustle that feels like a chore or something that you HAVE to do.
The best thing?
Figure out the easiest side hustle for you that brings you joy and start with that one.
3. Take it With You
The beautiful thing about a side hustle is you can do it anywhere.
If your full-time job has you working at home, take your side hustle out to the coffee shop, library, or even the park.
I’ve even done a side hustle from the car while driving long distances to visit family!
You are the boss.
You can work whenever and wherever you want. And if you’re burnt out from being at home?
It’s incredible what a change of scenery or working in a place you love can do to fuel your energy.
4. Make Lists and Prepare for the Week
Organization is the key to success.
I’m a huge list-maker. And it really helps!
Make lists of things you ‘must do,’ like laundry, grocery shopping, and cleaning. Those are the non-negotiable things.
Then create a schedule. When can you do those tasks and get them done and out of the way to have time to focus on your side hustle?
Want to take it a step further?
Plan your meals and prep them over the weekend. Suddenly, you’ll have more hours during the week to follow your passion with a side hustle.
Think about what you spend your time doing, too. Are you watching TV, playing games on your phone, or surfing the internet?
What can you cut out to find time to work on your side hustle?
You’d be surprised how many hours you waste binge watching Netflix without realizing it.
